Thanks to an advanced cryopreservation technique called “vitrification,” egg freezing now achieves exceptionally high survival rates. Her Serenity Egg Freezing has led the way in pioneering this technology and supporting cutting-edge research, achieving a successful thaw rate of over 90%. Worldwide, thousands of healthy babies have been born from frozen and thawed eggs, with studies showing no increase in chromosomal abnormalities or birth defects. Recent findings indicate that frozen eggs now produce successful pregnancies and healthy babies at rates comparable to those of fresh eggs used in IVF cycles.

Choosing to preserve your eggs today empowers you to maintain control over your future fertility options. Fertility preservation offers a unique way to ‘pause’ your biological clock, giving you flexibility to pursue career, education, travel, or personal goals without rushing family planning.

It’s also a thoughtful option for those facing medical conditions that may impact fertility. By freezing your eggs, you take a proactive step to secure a reserve of healthy, viable eggs that can be stored safely until you’re ready to begin your family journey.

About Egg Freezing

Egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, is a fertility preservation option that empowers women to pause family planning while protecting their current fertility.

At Her Serenity Egg Freezing of New York, our state-of-the-art lab employs advanced cryopreservation technology known as vitrification. This groundbreaking method has transformed egg freezing, enabling an impressive 80-90% survival rate for frozen eggs and consistently high embryo survival after thawing.

When Should I Freeze My Eggs?

Women are most fertile in their early to mid-20s, but from then on, both egg quality and quantity naturally decline, impacting the chances of pregnancy. After age 35, this decline tends to accelerate, making it harder to conceive. However, many women delay childbearing for various personal and professional reasons.

Thankfully, advances in egg freezing technology now allow women to safely retrieve and freeze unfertilized eggs, preserving their fertility and giving them the flexibility to start a family when the time is right.

Oocyte cryopreservation, or egg freezing, can be a valuable opportunity for many women, including those who:

Preserving Your Fertility: Peace of Mind

At Her Serenity Egg Freezing, we empower you with options to secure your future family goals. By retrieving, freezing, and storing your eggs during your prime reproductive years, you can preserve your fertility and pause your biological clock, alleviating concerns over age-related fertility decline.

With our advanced cryopreservation techniques, your eggs retain the quality they had at retrieval, significantly enhancing your chances of conception when you’re ready. Our cutting-edge approach ensures a high survival rate upon thawing, leading to healthy pregnancies and births.

The Egg Freezing Process

Both egg and embryo freezing begin similarly to traditional IVF. You’ll take medications to stimulate your ovaries, allowing multiple eggs to mature at once. Once ready, these eggs are retrieved from your body for freezing. The entire egg-freezing process typically takes under four weeks from start to finish.

Initial Consultation

At your initial consultation, we will review your medical history to gain a comprehensive understanding of your fertility and overall health. To assess your ovarian reserve (the number of eggs remaining in your ovaries), we’ll conduct an in-office blood test to measure AMH levels and perform an ultrasound to visualize the ovaries.

During this visit, we’ll also walk you through what to expect from the egg freezing process, including details on medications, scheduling, protocols, and any other information you need. Our team will be there to answer all your questions and ensure you feel informed and confident every step of the way.

Preparing for Your Egg Freezing Cycle

In a natural cycle, only one egg is typically produced during ovulation. However, by using hormone injections for 8-12 days leading up to your egg retrieval, we can stimulate your ovaries to develop multiple eggs in a single cycle.

Throughout this period, you’ll have a few appointments at our office for ultrasound monitoring and blood tests. These visits help us track your response to the medication, ensuring optimal progress for a successful egg retrieval.

Your Egg Retrieval

When your eggs are fully matured, you’ll be scheduled for an egg retrieval procedure. This quick outpatient procedure, performed under twilight anesthesia, typically takes just five to ten minutes. Guided by a transvaginal ultrasound, your doctor will carefully retrieve multiple eggs from your ovaries. Immediately following the retrieval, your eggs will be frozen to preserve their quality for your future family planning.

Cryopreservation in the Laboratory

After retrieval, your eggs are immediately transferred to the embryology laboratory. Here, each egg is carefully evaluated, and mature eggs are frozen for future use.  When you’re ready to conceive, your eggs are gently thawed and fertilized through sperm injection, and the resulting embryos are transferred to your uterus in a dedicated embryo transfer cycle.
